Coulsdon to Sterling

Our adventure will take us from south of London to the west of Edinburgh, passing through many great villages, towns and cities and taking in the beautiful countryside of both England and Scotland. We will get to see some great landmarks like St. Pauls Cathedral, Edinburgh Castle and the Milton Keynes cows(!) as well as the beauty of the Lake District, the Pennines and the Scottish Lowlands.

It is a trek of 500 miles from the Waitrose delivery depot in Coulsdon to Stirling in Scotland taking a total of 21 days and averaging about a marathon a day.  We will walk and we will talk, as well as eat a bit on the way too!

All are welcome:

Where we will be and when

The table on the right lets you know where we will be at the start and the end of each day. During the walk we will publish updates on socials on the route we will be taking, trying to keep a couple of days in advance to give you notice so that you can join us midway through a day.

We will be stopping a few times each day for rest and meal breaks and these would be great times to join in as well.

Whilst we will do our best to keep to the schedule published here, there may be slight adjustments as we go to take in to account things such as weather, injuries, longer conversations at stops and any unforeseen circumstances.

  • Join us at any time you can
  • Support us and cheer us on
  • Keep looking at socials for updates

Being prepared - clothing & footwear

If you are thinking of joining us for any part of the walk please ensure that you have the correct clothing and footware. For comfortable and safe walking, prioritize layers with breathable, moisture-wicking clothing and consider layering for varying weather conditions, including a waterproof outer layer, and choose appropriate footwear like walking boots or shoes with good traction

The most important item is a trusty footwear. Check your shoes will provide some ankle support for downhill walking; a good grip for slippery or unstable surfaces; a good fit to prevent blisters.

Good accessories are also vital as well as some snacks and water. Depending on weather think about

  • Walking Socks
  • Gloves
  • Hat or Cap - For warmth in winter and shade in summer
  • Sunglasses and sunscreen
